Pr. Gene Koker
SAOFGB ADVISOR: Iternational Missions Board Member
Pastor Gene Koker served as the Director of General Baptist National Missions during the 1990s. During this time—and under his leadership—he sent Pastors Bruce and Marilyn Conran to California with the mission of rebuilding and repositioning the Sheffield Association of General Baptists. This association, originally established in the 1940s and 50s, had fallen into decline by the 1990s.
Indeed, Pastor Bruce Conran successfully revitalized the association. Since that time, Pastor Gene and his wife, Joyce Koker, have been instrumental forces—actively involved in the ongoing support, ministerial and leadership development, and expansion of the Sheffield Association of General Baptists.
Pastors Gene and Joyce Koker also served as the Senior Pastors of Otter Creek Church in Boonville, Indiana—a congregation they pastored successfully for over 25 years, retiring in 2026.
Furthermore, Pastors Gene and Joyce—together with Pastor Rene Rodriguez—relaunched the International Missions Department of the Sheffield Association. To this end, they invited Pastors Clint Cook and Jeffrey Roth to join the team; together, they have built and developed the Sheffield Association of General Baptists International Missions.
Likewise, within the Sheffield Association, Pastor Gene K.—alongside Pastor Bruce Conran—is regarded as one of the spiritual fathers to many of the pastors and key leaders within our Association.
